Project policies

Terms of Use

1. About the project

Princeton Cultural Exchange is a youth-led community project that preserves and shares cultural stories connected to Princeton, New Jersey. It is an educational and community archive, not an emergency, legal, counseling, or commercial service.

2. Who may submit

You must be at least 13 years old to submit personal information through the online form. A parent or legal guardian should submit on behalf of a child under 13. If you submit material concerning another person, please respect that person’s privacy and obtain permission when appropriate.

3. Your material and permission to use it

You retain ownership of material you submit. You give the project a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, review, edit for clarity or length, reproduce, and display the material only in the ways you select in the submission form. This permission lets us operate the digital archive and, when authorized, Cultural Pathway Stations and related educational displays.

We will contact you before publishing. You may request removal or a change in permissions by emailing nschmidt2@princetonk12.org. Removal from backups, printed displays, or materials already distributed may take time or may not always be possible.

4. What you promise when submitting

You confirm that:

  • the submission is your original work or you have permission to share it;
  • the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
  • the submission does not violate another person’s copyright, privacy, or other rights;
  • the submission does not contain unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, or intentionally harmful material; and
  • you will not upload malware, misleading files, or confidential information you are not authorized to disclose.

5. Review and publication

Every submission is reviewed. We may accept, decline, postpone, excerpt, fact-check, or request changes to a submission. Submission does not guarantee publication, placement at a station, or continued availability. We may add context or correct minor errors while preserving the contributor’s meaning.

6. Appropriate use of the website

Do not interfere with the site, attempt unauthorized access, scrape personal information, impersonate another person, submit spam, or use the archive in a way that harms contributors or the community.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and store it, and how to request access, correction, or deletion.

8. Availability and disclaimers

The site and archive are provided on an “as available” basis. We work to keep the site accurate and secure, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, complete accuracy, or that every submitted perspective represents the views of the project, its student leaders, mentors, partners, or host locations.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the project grows. The effective date above will change when revisions are posted. Material changes will apply prospectively.
